2022-23 Award Winners

  • International Night

    Delta Center Elementary hosted International Night for all members of the community. International night featured food, music, dance, exhibitions, and activities from people from all over the world who have chosen Grand Ledge as their home. A GLEF grant helped sponsor the event.

  • March Book Madness 4.0

    March Book Madness is an bracket-style tournament that matches picture books in one-on-one "games." Students vote for their favorite, ending with a “championship” matchup between the top books. The top vote getter is declared the Wacousta March Book Madness winner. A GLEF grant provided funding for this year’s new round of books.

  • Drama Recorders

    For Beagle’s new acting course, students now have personal recorders to help memorize lines, hear cues, and rehearse for performances. A GLEF grant provided the funds for the recorders.

  • GL Rocks

    Thanks to a GLEF grant, more students now have rocker chairs. These chairs keep students engaged, while self-regulating.

  • Little Readers

    New texts give our young readers an opportunity to practice skills and learn new reading strategies with “decodable” texts.

  • Math Center Differentiation Tools

    A GLEF grant funded VersaTiles, a self checking-math program that allows students to get immediate feedback on their answers. This covers first through sixth grade math.

  • Musical Mobility

    A GLEF grant funded carts for Delta Center’s new xylophones. The carts give students better posture, and allow even our littlest Comets to safely. move the instruments

  • Wacousta Play Therapy

    With a GLEF grant, the Wacousta counseling program has supplies for play therapy. Through play therapy, students can express their feelings and help counseling staff work with students on anger, anxiety, grief, and general academic and social development.

  • Time It

    Beagle Middle School’s science program needed timers for parachute drops, timing boiling liquids, and other science experiments. A GLEF grant funded 12 times.

  • WIN (What I Need) Time

    WIN Time is a designated time for math and reading at Wacousta. GLEF funded a math cart and reading cart with supplies, so the carts can travel to different grade levels for WIN Time.

  • GL Comet TV

    The High School “Comet TV” program needed some new equipment. A GLEF grant has allowed the program to stay updated with appropriate technology.

  • Mobile Makerspace

    GLEF funded a Mobile Makerspace. The Mobile Makerspace is a cart that can travel from class to class. It allows students to make hands on creations with everyday objects.

  • Prom 4 U

    Prom 4 U is a sensory friendly prom for students with disabilities. GLEF provided a grant that contributes toward the space and activities.

  • Pedometers

    Beagle Middle School is on the move! Thanks to a GLEF grant, students can use pedometers to count their steps and learn about movement in health class.

  • Sensory Calming Book Boats

    This GLEF grant expanded on a grant from last year. Sensory book boats give young readers a fun and calm space to learn and read.

  • Delta Center Literacy Night

    GLEF funded a Literacy Night for families. Activities included a book swap, games, activities, a craft, and strategies for families to help read at home.
